North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Class
This 8-hour North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun (NC CCH) course is designed to prepare responsible citizens to safely carry a concealed handgun and understand the legal, moral, and practical responsibilities that come with that decision.
Course Overview
The North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun class meets the state’s training requirements for applying for a North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit. The course combines classroom instruction with hands-on range training to build safe gun handling skills, fundamental marksmanship, and a working understanding of North Carolina firearms law and the lawful use of deadly force.
This course is intended for responsible adults who want to carry a concealed handgun and fully understand the responsibilities and legal implications of carrying a concealed weapon.
Duration & Format
- Class Duration: 8 hours (classroom + live-fire range portion)
- Format: Classroom instruction, written materials, and live-fire qualification
- Location: Classroom and range details will be provided upon registration
What You’ll Learn
- Fundamental firearm safety rules and safe gun handling
- Handgun operation (loading, unloading, malfunctions, and basic maintenance)
- Foundational marksmanship skills and practical shooting techniques
- Overview of North Carolina firearms laws and concealed carry regulations
- Legal concepts related to the use of deadly force and when it may be justified
- Responsibility, mindset, and decision-making for concealed carry permit holders
Hands-On Training
In addition to the classroom portion, students will participate in live-fire exercises focused on:
- Safe loading and unloading procedures
- Proper grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control
- Basic marksmanship and consistent shot placement
This hands-on training is designed to build practical experience and confidence in using a handgun in a safe, controlled environment.
Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of the course requirements, you will receive a North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Course Certificate of Completion. You must submit this certificate when applying for your North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit with your local sheriff’s office.
