FFL Transfer Information & Policies

Torchwood Tactical, LLC is a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) located in Leland, North Carolina. We strive to make firearm transfers safe, efficient, and compliant with all applicable laws.

What Is an FFL Transfer?

An FFL transfer is the process of shipping a firearm from a seller (online retailer, local gun shop, or private individual) to a licensed dealer like Torchwood Tactical, LLC, where the background check and final transfer to the buyer are completed. All firearms purchased online must ship to an FFL—federal law prohibits shipping firearms directly to non-licensed individuals.

Standard Transfer Fees

Our standard transfer fees for incoming firearms are:

  • From an FFL dealer to Torchwood Tactical, LLC: $35.00 per firearm
  • From an individual to Torchwood Tactical, LLC: $35.00 per firearm
  • Discounted Rate: Transfers are only $30.00 if you hold a valid North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit.

Transfer fees are due at the time of pickup and are non-refundable once the firearm has been received and logged into our inventory.

How to Start an Incoming Transfer

  1. Notify Torchwood Tactical: Email us at sales@torchwoodtactical.com with: your name, contact information, and details about the firearm(s) being transferred.
  2. Provide Our FFL to the Seller: Once we confirm, you may provide the seller (FFL or individual) with a copy of our FFL license. We can email or fax it directly to the sending FFL upon request.
  3. Have the Seller Include Documentation: The shipping party must include a copy of their:
    • FFL license, if shipping from a dealer, or
    • Driver’s license or state-issued ID, if shipping from an individual.
  4. Wait for Arrival & Check-In: Once your firearm arrives and is logged into our inventory, we will contact you with pickup instructions.

Documentation Required at Pickup

To complete your transfer at Torchwood Tactical, LLC, you must bring:

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID with current address (driver’s license or state ID)
  • A valid North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permit (if applicable, for discounted fee and/or eligibility)
  • Any additional documentation required by law for your specific purchase

All firearm transfers require completion of an ATF Form 4473 and a successful background check, even if you already own other firearms. Exceptions apply only where expressly permitted by law.

Age Requirements & Eligibility

You are responsible for ensuring that you meet all federal, state, and local age and eligibility requirements before initiating a transfer. Torchwood Tactical, LLC complies with all applicable laws and will not complete a transfer if doing so would be unlawful.

If you are unsure whether you are legally allowed to possess a firearm, please consult an attorney or your local law enforcement agency before purchasing or initiating a transfer. Torchwood Tactical, LLC cannot provide legal advice.

Shipping, Storage & Pickup Deadlines

  • Pickup Window: Firearms must be picked up within 30 days of arrival and notification.
  • Storage Fee: Transfers not picked up within 30 days will incur a $50.00 per firearm, per month storage fee.
  • Abandoned Firearms: Firearms not claimed within 90 days may be considered abandoned and disposed of or sold to recover costs.

Failure to pick up your firearm in a timely manner does not relieve you of your financial responsibility for transfer and storage fees.

Denied or Refused Transfers

If your background check is denied, delayed, or otherwise prevented from being completed, Torchwood Tactical, LLC cannot transfer the firearm to you.

  • The transfer fee remains due and is non-refundable.
  • You are responsible for arranging return shipping to the original seller (and any related costs), if applicable.
  • In some cases, consignment or sale to a third party may be discussed where legally permissible.

State & Local Restrictions

Some firearms, magazines, and accessories are restricted or prohibited in certain states, counties, and municipalities. Torchwood Tactical, LLC does not ship or transfer items that are unlawful in the destination jurisdiction.

Your Responsibility: You are responsible for knowing and complying with all laws that apply to your purchase and transfer. Orders containing prohibited items may be canceled, modified, or refused in accordance with our store policies.

NFA Items

Torchwood Tactical, LLC does not accept NFA transfers (such as suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, or machine guns).

FFL Cockpit / Distributor & Drop-Ship Orders

Torchwood Tactical, LLC utilizes industry tools and distributor networks (including FFL-integrated platforms) to source firearms and accessories that may ship from partnered warehouses to our location. All such transfers are still processed through our FFL, and all standard transfer, background check, and eligibility requirements apply.
